Are Your Beliefs Keeping You Stuck?

I don't know about you, but I have a tendency to get in my own way at times and I know what I believe has a lot to do with it.

I am always open to learning new things especially when the lesson is coming from a 3-year-old. There is so much we can learn from our children if we only take the time to be clear and present enough to hear them out. My family and I spent some time in Galveston, TX this weekend where we visited a train museum with year 3-year-old son Ayden. It's pretty much where old trains go to retire. While walking through what looked more like a train graveyard than a museum, Ayden's whole face lit up as he looked at the old rusting trains like they were new and shiny. He was in awe of their size and length.

While there we had an opportunity to sit in a restored old passenger train from early 1900. Ayden hopped in the seat with such excitement. My husband explained the train was out of service and would not move. Ayden looked his father in the eyes and said: "all we have to do is believe dad". His statement was so sure and matter of fact, it made me think about my own beliefs.

Now, I know that all the belief in the world would not have made the train run, but his confidence in believing that it could, made me take notice. Can you imagine what you could accomplish if you had the belief of a 3-year-old? I don't know about you, but I have a tendency to get in my own way at times and I know what I believe has a lot to do with it.

A great example is me launching my podcast. I have been planning to launch a podcast for over a year. Every time I would start to create a strategy to move forward I decided something else was more important. The fact is, I didn't believe I would be successful at podcasting. Let me remind you, I never tried to podcast so I didn't really know. But, that simple belief stopped me dead in my tracks.

When I finally realized what I was doing I decided to take action. I took out a piece of paper and drew a line down the middle. At the top I wrote WHAT IS THE WORST THAT COULD HAPPEN and in the next column I wrote WHAT IS THE BEST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN. The worst thing was, no one would listen to my podcast and the best thing was that if my information helped one woman show up in her business that was good enough for me. That very moment I created a strategy for my podcast and put a plan in action.

I am super excited to announce The Launch & Conquer Podcast goes like on iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher and Soundcloud on 11/11/16. Be sure to can join the VIP Waiting List HERE to receive podcast episodes, invite only training and workshops in your email inbox.

We will never truly know how things will turn out unless we try. Are your beliefs keeping you from what you want most? I would love to hear from you, share your thoughts and/or comments below.
